Terms of use

In force since 10 October 2026 · version 2026-10-10

BetaThrek is in public beta: testers use it on iPhone and Android before it reaches the App Store and Google Play. This text describes what the service does today.

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Threk mobile application, website and related services, including public result pages (together, “Threk”, the “App” or the “Service”).

Threk is operated by Salvatore Amideo, VAT number IT14878190967, Italy. Certified email (PEC): salvatore.amideo@namirialpec.it. Email: legal@threk-app.com.

By creating an account or using Threk, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with them, you must not use the Service.

1. What Threk is

Threk is a performance and competition platform.

Threk allows users to voluntarily attempt predefined physical performance challenges, record their performance, submit results, have video evidence reviewed where applicable, and compare results with other users through leaderboards.

Threk provides technology for:

  • selecting challenges;
  • timing attempts;
  • recording optional video evidence;
  • submitting performance results;
  • verifying submitted video evidence;
  • displaying leaderboards; and
  • sharing selected results publicly.

Threk is not a medical service, healthcare service, personal training service, coaching service or personalised fitness programme.

Threk does not determine whether a particular challenge is medically or physically appropriate for you.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create or use a Threk account or submit an attempt.

You represent that:

  • you are at least 18 years old;
  • the information you provide is accurate;
  • you will comply with these Terms; and
  • you will use Threk only for lawful purposes.

The Service is offered to people resident in the European Union.

Threk may refuse or restrict access where it reasonably believes that these requirements have not been met. An account that turns out to belong to someone under 18 is blocked and its content removed, as described in the Privacy Notice.

3. Your account

Threk uses passwordless authentication, including one-time verification codes and, where supported, passkeys.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of the authentication methods associated with your account.

You must not:

  • impersonate another person;
  • use another person’s account;
  • attempt to access another user’s account;
  • interfere with Threk’s authentication systems; or
  • deliberately provide misleading information.

Your email address is not publicly displayed.

4. Challenges

Challenges are created and maintained by Threk.

Each challenge may specify:

  • the required work;
  • the applicable format;
  • scoring rules;
  • execution standards;
  • video recording requirements;
  • reference thresholds; and
  • safety information.

The existence of a challenge does not constitute a recommendation that the challenge is appropriate for you.

Threk does not provide personalised advice concerning which challenge you should perform.

You are responsible for deciding whether and when to participate.

5. Physical activity and safety

Physical exercise, particularly strenuous exercise, involves inherent risks.

These risks may include exhaustion, dehydration, falls, muscle or joint injuries, cardiovascular events and other serious injury.

Before performing strenuous physical activity, you should consider whether obtaining appropriate medical advice is necessary for you.

If you experience pain, dizziness, unusual shortness of breath, weakness, blurred vision, chest pain or another concerning symptom, stop the activity immediately and seek appropriate medical assistance where necessary.

Threk does not monitor your physical condition.

Threk does not determine whether you are medically fit to perform a challenge.

Threk does not supervise you while performing a challenge.

You may stop an attempt at any time. Stopping an attempt does not itself constitute a violation of these Terms.

A stopped attempt may record only the work actually completed.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability or legal right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable law.

6. Safety acknowledgement

Before submitting an attempt, you must accept Threk’s current Physical Activity & Safety Acknowledgement.

The acknowledgement is versioned and recorded with its date and language.

If the Safety Acknowledgement is materially updated, you must accept the new version before submitting another attempt.

7. Attempts and results

When you complete an attempt, the result may be automatically published to the relevant Threk leaderboard.

There is no requirement to manually publish an ordinary leaderboard result.

A result may include:

  • challenge;
  • score or completed work;
  • duration;
  • ranking position;
  • verification status;
  • date; and
  • applicable leaderboard attributes.

Attempts are not editable after submission.

Where available, you may withdraw an eligible result.

Withdrawal removes the result from the relevant public leaderboard and may cause associated public sharing pages and video evidence to become unavailable.

The underlying attempt may remain in your personal history as described in the Privacy Notice.

8. Leaderboards

Threk may provide leaderboards including:

  • worldwide;
  • country;
  • city;
  • age bracket;
  • sex; and
  • gym.

The worldwide leaderboard is the default leaderboard.

Leaderboard information is intended to compare recorded performances.

Leaderboard placement is not a medical assessment, fitness certification or recommendation.

9. Video recording

Video recording is optional unless expressly stated otherwise for a particular feature.

Where you choose to record a video, the recording is made directly through the Threk application.

The recording:

  • begins with the attempt;
  • continues until the attempt ends;
  • cannot be paused;
  • cannot be edited;
  • cannot be replaced with a gallery upload; and
  • is intended to provide continuous evidence of the attempt.

After completing a recorded attempt, you may review the recording before submission.

You may choose Keep & Submit or Discard & Record Again.

A discarded recording is not submitted to Threk’s moderation process and does not create a submitted public result.

10. Video verification

Submitted videos may be reviewed by authorised Threk moderators. A person reviews the videos of the top 20 of each challenge.

Moderators review video evidence to determine whether the submitted performance satisfies the applicable verification requirements.

Verification concerns the submitted evidence.

Verification does not certify your health, fitness, physical condition or overall athletic ability.

Threk does not use facial recognition or biometric identification to identify users.

11. Video retention

Two thresholds apply to the worldwide leaderboard of each challenge.

  • A person reviews the videos of the top 20 of each challenge.
  • After review, a video is kept only while its result is in the top 5. Outside the top 5 the video is deleted.

Videos that have never been reviewed are deleted after 30 days.

Deleting a video does not delete the underlying performance result.

12. Public result sharing

Threk provides an optional public sharing feature.

Normal leaderboard publication and public web sharing are separate features.

When you select Share for an eligible result, Threk will ask you to confirm that you want to create a public webpage.

By confirming public sharing, you understand that:

  • a public webpage will be created;
  • the webpage may be accessible without a Threk account;
  • the webpage may contain your displayed name or handle;
  • the webpage may contain your challenge and result;
  • the webpage may contain your leaderboard position;
  • the webpage may contain verification information and date; and
  • the webpage may be indexed by search engines.

The public share page is not created until you explicitly confirm the sharing action.

You may withdraw the associated result, which may cause the public share page to become unavailable.

Third parties may independently copy or cache publicly available information. Threk cannot control copies made outside its systems.

13. Video visibility

Videos are visible to registered users of the App, next to the leaderboard row of the attempt, from the moment of upload. They are not visible to the public: people without an account cannot watch them, and public result pages do not show them.

How long a video is kept is described in section 11.

14. Privacy and third-party images

You must not knowingly record another person without an appropriate legal basis or consent.

Before recording, ensure that other people are not unnecessarily captured in the frame.

If another person appears in a Threk video and believes that their privacy or image rights have been affected, they may report the content through Threk’s reporting mechanism or by contacting privacy@threk-app.com. See the Content & Privacy Reporting Policy.

15. User content

You retain ownership of the videos, photographs, names and other content you submit to Threk.

By submitting content, you grant Threk a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, process, reproduce, display and otherwise use that content only as reasonably necessary to:

  • operate the Service;
  • verify and moderate attempts;
  • maintain leaderboards;
  • provide public sharing that you have selected;
  • maintain security;
  • comply with legal obligations; and
  • provide the functionality described in these Terms.

This licence does not transfer ownership of your content to Threk.

16. Prohibited conduct

You must not:

  • falsify a performance;
  • manipulate or fabricate video evidence;
  • submit another person’s performance as your own;
  • use another person’s account;
  • manipulate leaderboard systems;
  • exploit software vulnerabilities;
  • interfere with Threk’s infrastructure;
  • attempt unauthorised access;
  • submit unlawful or infringing material;
  • deliberately record third parties without appropriate authorisation;
  • use automated systems to manipulate rankings; or
  • use Threk for unlawful purposes.

17. Benchmark names and third-party rights

Threk may use commonly known benchmark names, including Annie, Cindy, Fran, Karen and Tabata Squats, for identification of challenges.

These names are used for descriptive identification purposes only.

Threk is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or otherwise associated with any third party referenced by the name of a challenge.

Threk does not use third-party logos, official promotional images or official third-party videos for these challenges.

Nothing in Threk should be interpreted as implying an endorsement or commercial relationship that does not exist.

18. Intellectual property

The Threk software, interface, design, graphics, trademarks, logos, text, databases and other materials supplied by Threk are owned by or licensed to Threk and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

You may use Threk only for its intended purposes.

You must not reproduce, distribute, modify, reverse engineer, decompile or create derivative works from Threk except where permitted by mandatory applicable law.

19. Third-party services

Threk may use third-party providers for infrastructure, storage, email delivery, location/gym search and related technical functions.

Third-party services may be subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

Threk is not responsible for independent failures of third-party services outside its reasonable control.

20. Availability

Threk is provided on an ongoing basis, but we do not guarantee that it will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free.

We may temporarily suspend features for:

  • maintenance;
  • security;
  • technical problems;
  • legal compliance;
  • fraud prevention; or
  • product development.

21. Suspension and termination

You may stop using Threk at any time.

You may delete your account through the functionality provided in the App.

Threk may suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary because of:

  • material violation of these Terms;
  • fraud;
  • abuse;
  • security threats;
  • unlawful conduct; or
  • legal requirements.

Termination does not affect rights or obligations that by their nature survive termination.

22. Account deletion

You can delete your account in the App: Profile, then Settings, then Delete my account. Your personal information, attempts and associated videos are removed from active systems immediately. Database backup copies are overwritten within 14 days and are never used to restore a deleted account.

What remains is described in the Privacy Notice: product usage events with no reference to you, and, for an account blocked because it belonged to someone under 18, the one-way fingerprint of the blocked device.

Public result pages associated with deleted results will become unavailable where technically applicable.

23. Disclaimer

Threk is a technology platform for voluntary performance comparison.

Threk does not provide:

  • medical advice;
  • medical diagnosis;
  • personalised fitness advice;
  • personal training;
  • coaching;
  • physical supervision; or
  • certification of physical fitness.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Threk does not guarantee that the Service will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

In particular, nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury to the extent such exclusion or limitation is prohibited by applicable law.

Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer rights.

24. Consumer rights

If you are a consumer, you retain all mandatory rights granted to you by the laws applicable to your place of residence.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to deprive you of mandatory consumer protection rights.

25. Changes to the Terms

We may update these Terms when the Service, applicable law or our practices change.

Where a change materially affects your rights or obligations, we will provide appropriate notice and, where required, obtain renewed acceptance.

The current version will be available at threk-app.com/terms.

26. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Italy, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection provisions that may apply in the country where you reside.

If you are a consumer residing in another European Union Member State, nothing in this choice of law prevents you from benefiting from mandatory protections applicable to you under the law of that Member State.

27. Public beta

Threk is currently a service in testing (public beta). During the beta, features, challenges, leaderboards and results may change, and leaderboards and results may be reset.

28. Moderation

Threk may remove a video, a result or an account when:

  • the attempt does not follow the written rules or execution standards of the challenge;
  • the declared result is not supported by the video or is physically impossible;
  • the attempt is not your own, or the video was not recorded in the App;
  • the content infringes the privacy, image or other rights of another person;
  • the account belongs to someone under 18; or
  • the content or the account is used in breach of these Terms.

When a video or a result is rejected, you receive the reason. You can contest a moderation decision by writing to legal@threk-app.com: a person will review it again.
